The Middle Nolichucky Watershed Alliance protects the waters and land of Greene County through on the ground projects, providing educational opportunities for community members, and improving the economy through development projects.
We were formed because there is a need for environmental preservation in Greene County. Currently, 56 of 85 named streams in Greene County are listed on the EPA's impaired stream list. This means that more than half of the streams in Greene County are in critical need of protection. Because of this need to protect the streams of Greene County, a few committed individuals formed the Middle Nolichucky Watershed Alliance
